1. Introduction
The Process of sending, receiving and understanding messages is called communication. Communication is a very important thing in our daily life. We used to communicate with so many people in our date to day life and it helps us to do our daily task easily. However, while most people are born with the physical ability to talk, not all can communicate well unless they make special effort to develop their skill further.
Communication helps to spread knowledge and information among people; moreover communication is the foundation of human being. Communicating with people helps us to understand emotions and thoughts of others, also its helps people to express their ideas and feelings.
There are many ways of communication but the standard method is speaking or writing by the sender and listening or reading by the receiver respectively. People use different types of communication methods at different situation and places. Therefore communication is very important and useful to everyone; also it plays a major role in every life of human being.

2. Methods of communication
People communicate with each other in many ways depend on the message and content which is being sent. Language is a common symbol system which is used for sharing our experiences with others. We can also use pictures, colors, signs and sounds to communicate. We do communicate a number of things by our facial expressions, movements, clothing’s and so on, though we do not speak. People also choose how to communicate depends on their style. So, there is variety of types of communication. Below are the 2 basic communication methods.
• Verbal communication
• Nonverbal communication
2.1. Verbal Communication
Verbal communication is all messages which are transmitted verbally, it includes sounds, languages, words and speaking. Verbal communication is also called oral communication. Language is said to have originated from sounds and gestures. There are many languages spoken all over the world, as of now there are 6909 living languages across the world. Speaking is an effective way of communicating with people. The sender and received exchanges their thoughts and idea verbally either in face to face discussions or through a telephone or an internet software’s like skype, whatsapp, viber etc.
Good verbal communication is very important and it is an inseparable part in business communication. Fluency in verbal communication is essential, to deal with people in business. Example for verbal communication:-
• Personal discussions, presentations.
• Telephone calls, teleconference and videoconference.
• Staff meetings, business meetings, interviews and other face-to-face meetings.
• Public presentations such as speeches, lectures and conference.
2.1.1. Advantages and disadvantages of verbal communication
Advantages
• Helps to make quick decisions.
• Basic language needed.
• Questions can be asked immediately.
• Clear understanding.
• Quick and easy to transmit the message to the receiver.
Disadvantages
• No formal records of what was said unless it is recorded.
• May not be suitable for personal or confidential information.
• More time consuming.
• Relies on the presenter’s verbal skill.
2.2. Nonverbal communication
Nonverbal communications are information’s or messages which are transmitted through expressions, symbols, pictures and by writing. Non verbal communication is mostly used in business environments. Most of the businesses use nonverbal communication by writing reports, letters, memos, notices, and also emails. Written communication can be classified into two, internal and external.
Examples for internal and external written communication.
• Internal: – Memos, job descriptions, reports, e-mails, bulletin.
• External: – Letters, proposals, advertisements, brochures, faxes.
