This extract is taken from Act 1

This extract is taken from Act 1, Scene 2 of the play “Othello”. It takes place at Othello’s lodgings at the Sagittary, where Othello, Iago and attendants with torches are present. The scene takes place right after Roderigo has been pressured to tell Brabantio that his daughter Desdemona has eloped with the moor Othello. In this scene the attendants have come looking for Othello because he is needed by the Duke to go to battle in Cyprus against the Turks. In the scene after this gobbet, Othello and Desdemona face Brabantio at the Duke’s council chamber.
