The wizard of oz is a fictional fantasy /adventure that is written by L. Frank Baum. I read the first 70 pages.
Dorothy is a young girl who lives in a one-room house in the midst of the great Kansas prairies with Uncle Henry, Aunt Em and a dog named Toto, who made her laugh. Suddenly the sky goes grey and a cyclone strikes. Dorothy with Toto does not reach the storm cellar in time. They are still in the house when the cyclone carries it away for a long journey. Finally, when the house lands, Dorothy finds out that she is in a beautiful and colored land inhabited by short, strangely dressed people. The Witch of the North informs her that she is in the land of the Munchkins, who are grateful to her for having killed the Wicked Witch of the East. The Witch of the North gives Dorothy witches silver shoes of the dead and advises her to go to the City of Emeralds to see the Great Wizard Oz, who might help her return to home.
The witch sends Dorothy off along the yellow brick road with a magical kiss to protect her from harm.
On the journey to the Emerald City, Dorothy and Toto are joined by the Scarecrow, who wishes he had a brain. The Cowardly Lion, who seeks courage and Tin Woodman, who seeks for a heart. They face many trials, riddles along their route, but they overcome them, because of the Scarecrow’s good sense, the bravery of the Cowardly Lion and Tin Woodman’s kindness. Finally, they reach the Emerald City, where the Guardian of the Gates give them green-lensed glasses and leads them to the Palace of Oz. Oz grants the favors when the Wicked Witch of the West has been killed.
