The planet faces a variety of troubling issues that stem from man-made contamination. Many of these lead to environmental problems that are causing long-term damage to the earth’s ecosystem. Philippines is one of the country experiencing and facing environmental problems. As an individual, we must know our responsibilities to know the things we should do to address the problems in our environment. If you will observe in every place we go in school, offices, restaurants, canteen etc. They are promoting cleanliness and orderliness. To maintain a clean and healthy environment we must start in our self first and encourage others to be a responsible individual. Being responsible can make you to be a creative thinker who recycle wastes into things we can use. Also, we must not use harmful materials to lower the risk and prevent accidents. To address this kind of issues we must bind all together and help one another to build a clean and safe environment.
There are ways on addressing environmental issues. First, segregating wastes. There are different types of segregating wastes. We have the biodegradable where you can put human and animal waste and plant products, wood, paper, food waste, leaves, grass clippings and non-biodegradable where glass, metals, plastics, electronic devices, medical wastes belong. On the other hand, we also have three trash bins were plastics, papers, and bottles were separated and two bins of trash where wet and dry wastes are separated from each other. We can see those different ways of segregating in park, malls, school, market etc. To be honest we know that there are some people who are not following directions about segregating their own wastes and still throwing anywhere or putting their wastes in the wrong trash bin. As a student and an individual, we must encourage others to follow those directions by starting by ourselves first and reminding them on what they must do. That is why we have the different colors of trash bin for us not to be confused and to know where will we put our wastes.
Aside from segregating wastes, another way to address environmental issues is to recycle our own wastes to something useful. The phrase ‘Reduce, Reuse, Recycle’ is taught to children all over the world in the hope of creating a clean environment. We all know that recycling is a simple way in which every person can contribute to making a better world. The basic concept of recycling is the process of converting used materials or waste into reusable material for production. It is essential that people start realizing that recycling is necessary now, and going to be more necessary in the future because of the new, higher quality lifestyles people are living. With more people becoming wealthier, more products are being consumed, and as a result more waste is being produced. In addition, the world’s increasing population also increases the number of products that could become potential waste. Both of these factors of a higher quality of life and increased population are continuing to contribute to the increasing amounts of waste being produced on Earth. This is important to understand because these factors are going to happen inevitably, which is why recycling will be an absolute necessity in the future. There are many benefits that come from recycling. It can range from helping the environment to preserving the planet’s resources.
