Nurses be able to encode their messages effectively and communicate their own messages to patients

Nurses be able to encode their messages effectively and communicate their own messages to patients. Prior to communication, nurses must be aware of factors which will determine what is appropriate and necessary for interactions (Pullen, 2007). These factors include socio-culture, development, gender, environment, psychological barriers and interpersonal attitude and emotion. Before starting encoding messages for patients, nurses should take consideration above factors. Pullen (2007) highlighted the importance of this as it has the potential to build patient confidence, improve patient satisfaction and decrease the likelihood of misunderstandings. In addition, it can make patients’ interactions more efficient and promote mutual therapeutic effects.
