Many people don’t believe one thing

Many people don’t believe one thing, can control love either human or god. However, in Ancient greece, greeks believed that one god was in control of love. They called her Aphrodite, or Venus in Roman mythology. She was said to be the goddess of love, beauty, and desire. She was the daughter of Zeus, the king of gods, and Dionne. More commonly she is believed to be born from the foam in the sea. She was married to Hephaestus, the lame smith god, yet she secretly associated with Ares the god of war.

Aphrodite was seen to be a threat to peace between gods because of jealousy for her love. Therefore, Zeus married Aphrodite to Hephaestus. He wasn’t seen as a threat because of his ugliness and deformity. Aphrodite had a secret but love affair with Ares, the god of war. She also had many other affairs. Out of all her affairs, she loved Ares the most.

One part of Aphrodite’s powers was that she could transform the ugly or the average into something beautiful, and attractive. She also had the power to make people fall in love. She could also make people fall in love with her, which would make sense, because she had many affairs. Aphrodite could play with people’s emotions which could count as many powers. You could just say that Aphrodite’s powers where just love, beauty, and desire.

Aphrodite had a large family tree. Aphrodite’s parents were Zeus and Dione. Aphrodite didn’t have any direct siblings, but she had many half siblings which were, Hephaestus, Ares, Athena, Artemis, Apollo, Hermes, Dionysus and Persephone. Aphrodite was forced to marry Hephaestus so none of the gods would get jealous. Aphrodite had many children which were Eros, Phobos, Deimos, Harmonia, Pothos, Anteros, Himeros, Hermaphroditos, Rhode, Eryx, Peitho, Eunomia, The Graces, Priapus, Aeneas and Tyche. Eros, one of her children, is also the god of love, and he has a arrow to shoot people to fall in love with each other. Today, Eros is known as present day Cupid.

Aphrodite had many symbols to represent her. First of all, Aphrodite’s favorite birds where swans and doves, which represented love and caring. She favored roses, in some story’s it says roses stained the color red which she cut her feet on it’s thorns while running toward her dying Adonis. Another important symbol to Aphrodite is the apple. The apple was very important because it is said that she bribed Paris of Troy with a golden apple to win an award, also, Aphrodite awarded Hippomenes with golden apples when he won Atlanta. The last symbol adored by Aphrodite was the mirror, which symbolized truth and who you really are because that’s your own self looking back at you.

Aphrodite was one of the twelve Olympian gods. There is also Zeus, Hera, Poseidon, Demeter, Athena, Apollo, Artemis, Ares, Aphrodite, Hephaestus, Hermes, and either Hestia or Dionysus. These were the major gods. They were the more important gods which everyone loved. Aphrodite was an olympian because she is believed to be Zeus and Diones daughter. Aphrodite was adored by many gods because whomever she married would become an olympian and she had the power to make anyone fall in love with her.

Aphrodite was very beautiful and had many amazing powers. However, Aphrodite did have some weaknesses. Every time she saw someone more beautiful or attractive than her she gave them a gave them a horrible life or killed them. You could just say that she got jealous a lot. Aphrodite also had a really bad temper, was very vain, and unfaithful. She cheated on men many times which made her unfaithful. Aphrodite did have many strengths which made her desirable, but she also had a bad side, nobody’s perfect.
