Historically

Historically, the words religious and spiritual have been used as synonyms of each other describing all the factors and aspects of religion. The term religion is highly challenged with scholars and philosophers. According to Russell McCutcheon religion is “seemingly distinct domain of diverse items of human activity and production. Many studies are conducted on religion and spirituality but those studies are not able to agree even on a single definition of religion because in many ways spirituality overlies with it. As a result it is also very difficult to define spirituality. Many people consider spirituality and religion as the same but the studies conducted on spirituality and religion clarify that these both are two different things (Russel McCutcheon, 2010)
