Cosmetic products are regulated and controlled worldwide to ensure safety and efficacy. Regulatory frameworks greatly vary between countries; thus, it is impossible for a global industry to sell the same product on all markets. Particularly in major markets, these variances, ranging from manufacturer responsibility for product safety to practice guidelines on safety and efficacy information to be developed and kept at the disposal of manufacturers. This chapter will analyze the main feature of cosmetic laws in the European Union, the United States, Japan, the Association of Southeast Asia Nations, Australia, Brazil, Canada, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the People’s Republic of China, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Korea, South Africa and Switzerland.
