Have you heard the expression ” Never Judge a book by its cover.” Well, its certainly applied today every way. The way you dress, the language your speaking, the place you grew up and have different skin color. Most of us have a habit to look at one’s external appearance and make a short conclusion on their character that causes wrong assumptions, discrimination, and harm.
We make all sorts of assumptions on appearance every day. Some are insignificant; others are potentially overwhelming. People are continuously judged by their appearance. Today, Stereotypes are a big problem in our society. It sets a label on how a person should act according to their, race, personality, and other facts. For example, people often stereotype young black males as being involved in a gang because of the particular style of their clothing (sagging pants, tattoos, or baggy shirts). One’s way of dressing influences the way others view the person hence wearing the right clothes. These days’ people pay attention to certain races because they are under the assumption they are behind of those crimes. For example, police officers may pay particular attention to African-American or Latinos because they are under the assumption that these groups commit more crimes.than other races. Assumptions can also be seen in religious groups. People judge though other individual’s habits such as a person praying before eating a meal or having a rosary around their neck. These types of predictions can sometimes lead to mistakes of the person
Discrimination is a severe problem for the contemporary society. People do discriminate against each other whether their actions are intentional or happen due to the lack of knowledge or intricate sociological triggers as well as societal delusions and personal ignorance. There has been lots of disagreement surrounding the issue of public humiliation. It’s a form of effective punishment for the ones who are being discriminated. Such as people taking in Spanish in schools or the stores. It’s important also to point out that people can hold negative thoughts of other people, for example, people show favored treatment for people who are like themselves—that is, who have the same color skin or favorite sports team. People avoid other people because they have different color skin or different origin. We as people can’t look past the oddities to see the marvelous human being in front of us? For example, people avoiding a black high school student in school because he owns drugs. How are suppose to grow as people if we see past what people say about based on their origin?
Judging affects your health. Judging a person can have similar effects to additional forms of discrimination. People describe feeling hurt isolated, ashamed, misunderstood, and criticized Judging can also result in people being less likely in talking about what they’re going through life. Self-esteem is a commission for mental health status. It can decrease anytime when people are discriminated. It may bring all hopes from someone who wants to be a doctor because people may say you’re stupid because you’re white. The fear of judgment can sometimes lead you by ending your life in that instant. You may ask yourself “Why am I being ‘judged’?”. Teenagers cant handle everything on their own, so they end their life to be free from all the judgment their facing every day.
In conclusion, Who are we to judge how others act, look, dress or who they hang out with? People need to stop judging for anything, and cant placed limitations on us. Everyone of-of us is different.
