William Henry Gates the III, is also referred as “The king of Software” he cofounder the Microsoft Corporation, the largest computer software company, known as Bill Gates, the wealthiest man in North America. Bill Gates is not only a genius, but also an innovator in education, technology, and charity. He dedicated his time to his passion for technology, going on to create the most profitable technology company in the world. Evidence of his innovation, industry and curiosity can be seen at an early age. We could say for him, Talent can’t be hidden any more.
He was born on the 28th of October 1955 in the city of Seattle, WA. He grew up in a wealthy family. His parents were William H. Gates Sr. and Mary Maxwell. Both of Gates’ parents had prominent positions in society. He was the second child and only son of William Henry Gates Jr. who was an attorney and former schoolteacher. Gates had two siblings both sisters, one older and one younger. The family Gate’s grew up in motivated the children to be ambitious. His first introduction to computers was at the World’s Fair in Seattle, 1962. The first computer Gates worked with was a GE computer. As a teenager, Gates was extremely dedicated to computers that he would take the chance to use the machine whenever he could even when it was time to sleep. He worked in night, too. Gates and his partner, Paul Allen, generated 20 thousand dollars with their earliest company, Traf-o-Data. Traf-o-Data was a business which used computers to read traffic statistics. His passion for technology started at the age of 8, when he made his first computer program. This was the first computer program that Bill Gates wrote was a ‘tic-tac-toe game’ allowed to player compete the game. From then on, Bill spent most of his free time in the computer room. He programmed computers at age 13. In 1972, and co-founded his first company while still attending school. The Bill gates and his friend Paul, both decided they wanted to be at the head of the computer software design industry.one day they read the article , after read an article on the Altair computer, he dropped out of Harvard University to practice his passion in software development. Bill always had an eye for business, like business is in his blood. This led to the formation of Microsoft in Albuquerque city, New Mexico but in 1979 they decided to move the company to Seattle to be close to home. The opportunity of a lifetime came in 1980 when IBM asked Gates to help them with their personal computer project. They needed Gates to write the operating system for the new machines. As a school student he used to brag that he would be a millionaire by the time he was 30—he actually became one by the time he was 31! Soon Microsoft’s operating systems became very popular and the company introduced an operating environment named Windows on November 20, 1985, as a graphical operating system shell for MS-DOS. He received the Bower Award for Business Leadership from The Franklin Institute in 2010 in recognition of his achievements at Microsoft and his philanthropic work. Bill and Melinda Gates, his wife, jointly received India’s third highest civilian honor Padma Bhushan in 2015 for their foundation’s philanthropic activities in India. the one minor thing about Bill Gates is, he was once arrested in New Mexico in 1977 for driving without a license. Interesting fact about him is, His all-time favorite business book is ‘Business Adventures’ by John Brooks, published in 1969.
