Continuous Quality Improvement
Continuous quality improvement (CQI) is important in analyzing and evaluating healthcare processes and policies, which impact the quality and provision of healthcare services (Huber, 2017). The most important aspects of healthcare are quality and access to healthcare, which can be improved through CQI strategies (Huber, 2017). This process is aimed at improving patient outcomes in the health care system. Continuous quality improvement also ensures improved patient satisfaction, which is a major objective of all healthcare systems. It is the responsibility of all nurses to implement continuous quality improvement strategies, which can be helpful when addressing challenges in the healthcare industry (Huber, 2017).
In my current position as a professional therapist, where I interact with clients on a daily basis, CQI can be applied to reduce the risk of a relapse that clients may face during counseling process (Huber, 2017). CQI is aimed at improving healthcare systems based on the fact a system cannot be perfect and can be prone to failure and errors. CQI allows systems to be continuously improved to improve their functions and effectiveness (Huber, 2017). Most programs aimed at helping individuals with substance use disorders sometimes fail even after following the required procedures which has a negative outcome in the performance of therapists across the nation (Huber, 2017). Due to this, Majority of the professional therapists have implemented strategies, which allow integration of any current and evidence-based strategies with the help of the management to improve the performance and outcomes in the mental health departments (Huber, 2017).
This has been achieved through collaboration and networking with other professional counselors who together share the best and most current strategies that may positively impact other mental health departments (Huber, 2017). This type of CQI initiative has resulted in improved patient outcomes and reduced the time taken in a counseling process, which has also led to employee satisfaction (Huber, 2017). Evidence -based research has shown to improve the patient satisfaction and a reduction in costs related to readmission of individuals with substance use disorders (Huber, 2017).
