Our Mission & Scope

Transect Science publishes practical, trustworthy resources focused on learning and academic success — including study guides, essay-writing help, research and methodology overviews, and skills for students in STEM and humanities. Our goal is to present clear, accurate, and up-to-date information that helps learners think critically and work ethically.

We do not provide legal, medical, or financial advice. Educational content is for information purposes only.

Editorial Workflow

  1. Idea & Scope: Topics are pitched based on audience needs, search intent, and expertise fit.
  2. Research & Sources: Editors require primary sources where possible, or high-quality secondary sources (journals, university presses, reputable organizations).
  3. Drafting: Authors write original content that is clear, neutral in tone, and aligned with our style guide.
  4. Editorial Review: A staff editor reviews for accuracy, clarity, structure, compliance with policy, and plagiarism risks.
  5. Approval & Publish: Copy-editing and compliance checks precede publication.
  6. Maintenance: Pages are periodically reassessed for relevance, accuracy, and broken links.

Quality Standards & Fact-Checking

  • Accuracy: Claims must be supported by reliable sources; data points include dates and context.
  • Verifiability: We prefer peer-reviewed research, academic publishers, government/NGO data, and established textbooks.
  • Clarity: We favor plain English, concrete examples, and transparent definitions of key terms.
  • Originality: Plagiarism is not tolerated. We use plagiarism detection and manual checks.
  • Harm avoidance: Sensitive topics are handled with care and appropriate disclaimers.

Authors, Credentials & Accountability

Every article lists an author (or “Editorial Team”), publication date, and last updated date. Where relevant, author credentials and affiliations are disclosed on a public profile page. Editors are responsible for fact-checking and enforcing this policy; serious breaches can result in removal or retraction.

Use of AI & Automation

  • Assistive, not autonomous: AI tools may be used for outlining, grammar assistance, or idea generation, but never as the sole author of published work.
  • Human oversight: All content is planned, edited, and approved by humans. We verify facts independently of AI outputs.
  • No synthetic citations: We do not allow fabricated references. All citations must be traceable to real sources.
  • Disclosure: When AI materially assists a piece (e.g., data cleaning), an editorial note may be included.

Updates, Corrections & Retractions

We correct factual errors promptly. Minor fixes (typos/formatting) may be made silently; substantive updates are noted in an Update History block or with an editor’s note. If a piece is deemed unreliable, we may retract it with a visible notice.

To request a correction or removal, email [email protected] with the URL, a description of the issue, and any supporting evidence.

Editorial Independence & Ethics

  • Independence: Editorial decisions are made by our editors and are not influenced by advertisers or sponsors.
  • Conflicts of interest: Authors and editors must disclose any conflicts relevant to their content.
  • Neutrality: We strive for balanced coverage and disclose limitations where evidence is mixed.

User Submissions & Community Guidelines

We may accept guest submissions and student-contributed materials. Submitters must warrant originality and proper rights to publish. We reserve the right to edit for clarity, length, and compliance, or to decline publication at our discretion.

Advertising, Sponsorships & Affiliate Disclosure

  • Separation of church and state: Ads and sponsored placements are clearly labeled and separate from editorial content.
  • Affiliate disclosure: We may earn a commission from qualifying purchases via affiliate links; this does not affect our editorial evaluations.
  • No pay-to-play: Payment does not guarantee coverage or a positive review.

Images, Media & Copyright

  • Licensing: We use original media, licensed stock, or public-domain assets with proper attribution.
  • Alt text: All informative images include descriptive alt text.
  • Takedowns: If you believe your copyrighted work appears without authorization, contact us (see below).

Accessibility & Inclusive Language

We aim to meet or exceed WCAG 2.1 AA practices in our content and interface. We avoid stigmatizing language and follow people-first phrasing when relevant.
